Church Representative

Church Representative

Imagine your church uniting in prayer - for Christians who share our faith but not our freedom. Imagine your church growing in faith as you pray, for God is building His church in the face of persecution. Imagine the impact...

You can make a difference...

We have a vision to see the persecuted church on the agenda of every church in the UK and Ireland. Our concern should be for our persecuted family standing with them in prayer and support. But this vision will only become a reality through people like you responding to the call to become a Church Rep. You can be the link between your church family and our persecuted family.

You may even be doing the role without knowing it!

If you are...

  • A people person who enjoys mingling with others
  • Are an active part of your church community
  • Are able to spot opportunities to make a difference and make the most of them
  • Are motivated by a challenge
  • Have experience of leading prayer times
  • Communicate to groups or represent a cause

Maybe you would like to...

  • Involve others in praying more for persecuted Christians
  • Like to find ways to make your church aware of the persecution faced by Christians around the world; inspire people to add their voice to critical advocacy campaigns
  • Request financial support when appropriate
  • Have personal support and encouragement from your local Volunteer Co-ordinator.*

Our main requirement...

Our main requirement is that you are able to get your church involved in at least one activity a year for any of the following:

  • Great Big Tea Party (GBTP) or another 'Great Big...' event
  • International Day of Prayer (IDOP)
  • Annual Campaign (ex. show campaign DVD at your church)

We have lots of ways to support you and encourage you on this journey:

  • Practical resources for letter writing and holding a ‘Great Big...’ event
  • Kidzone resources to get younger people involved
  • Youth resources for teenagers and young adults’ participation
  • Prayer resources for the top 50 persecuted countries
  • Opportunities to travel and meet with believers in other countries
  • On hand by phone and email to offer support, advice to help tailor this role to your skills, interests and experience
  • Contact with other local volunteers, via your Volunteer Co-ordinator, when possible
  • Contact with your nearest Open Doors Speaker who can make formal presentations to your church about the ministry of Open Doors

*Volunteer Co-ordinators are also full time volunteers who encourage and help other volunteers in their area feel supported and equipped for their role.

"If it wasn't for Anne, our desire to support the persecuted church would still be just a desire. She has helped turn our vision into reality."
